Alaskan Malamute (Mia), age 3. This photo was taken with a Minolta SR-101 that my parents gave me for high school graduation, which was nearly 20 years old at the time. Mia was asleep on a chair; I quietly snuck up on her with the camera ready, then snapped the picture as soon as she opened her eyes. A few years later, Cushing's Disease ravaged Mia's body and made most of the hair on her tail fall out. But in this photo her tail is fluffy and she's at the height of her physical beauty.
