Daniel and his wife decided at the last minute to evacuate from their home in Long Beach, and they made it to the rest area in I-10 near Pascagoula, where they huddled behind the brick structure for hours with several other people. His home is now "the second slab on the left down that street right there," as he said while pointing across the railroad tracks. They're staying at a busines in Long Beach for now, taking care of things for the owner and keeping looters away in return for free rent.
