Mike (right) works for the Mississippi Department of Transportation, and they were out on Sunday 9/25 pumping storm sewers down along Beach Boulevard in Pass Christian. He said they had found two 9-foot aligators and one 12-foot aligator in the storm sewers in Gulfport so far, in addition to many smaller ones. For those who know this area, the slab behind Mike's truck is the former Pirate's Cove restaurant.
Mike had just come from talking to the owner of the home above, which was one of the only structures still standing in this area near Pirate's Cove. This home was designed to withstand winds of up to 300mph, and apparently it passed its first test. The owner intended to rebuild. For a point of comparison, check out what happened to another home nearby.
