Marsha's House

Marsha on the front steps of her house. Her house is not visible in this photo — it's behind the house on the right. (When we first arrived, it took a few minutes to locate Marsha's house, actually.) The front stairs and supporting columns are still in place, but there are three other houses on her lot (all visible here), in addition to her own house. The storm surge swept the other houses off their foundations and deposited all of them in Marsha's yard.

Added 9/13/05: I found an NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) satellite photo that shows most of Marsha's neighborhood after the hurricane. It's frustrating that it cuts off right in the middle of Marsha's house, but here it is, with a red X on her house:

I happened to have taken a few pictures of Marsha's house just three weeks earlier when we stayed with her, so here are three before-and-after shots. The third one is looking south from her back porch, and shows the neighboring houses that wound up in her yard.

And here are some shots of the house itself, her crushed car (under the neighbor's house), and the debris scattered around her lot.
