A classic car collection was housed in a destroyed garage on the east side of highway 49 in Gulfport. Gulfport suffered the flood of the storm surge — destroying casinos and everything else near the waterfront — and also high winds throughout the city. In the days after the storm, however, Gulfport was the most functional town in the area, and numerous relief workers could be seen on the streets at all times.
