Granny's house rotated in place, nearly 90 degrees clockwise. The front door is now on the left — it's behind Marsha in the photo above. The house is still in one piece, but the contents have been shaken severely, and everything has been soaked in smelly water.
I had only been to Granny's house once, just three weeks before the hurricane. Click here to see two photos that I took in her living room then. You'll notice some of the same items (such as the lamp) in the pictures below.
Granny's neighbor's car was unscathed. It didn't even have a dent or a crack in the glass, even though the house it sat in front of was completely destroyed, and Granny's house (30 feet away) was moved right off its foundation. Note the search and rescue symbols painted on the car.
Megan recovered a picture of her father (Russell) from the wreckage, but it was too heavily water-damaged to be restored.
