02/03/06: Doug & Megan Get Burgled

When it's all done, we're left with some paperwork to fill out. All in all, an interesting experience. And although it sucks to have our space briefly violated and lose a few things, it could have been worse.

The cats were fine, and the alarm seems to have done its job of scaring off the burglar quickly. Two nearby neighbors were home and didn't hear the alarm, so we're going to augment that a bit. With a louder alarm, neighbors could have easily seen the burglar fleeing the scene.

Speaking of neighbors, that's a good thing that came out of this experience. We met more of the neighbors, and everyone's great. Several people dropped in to see if we were OK, and everyone has given us their phone numbers and said to just come over if we ever need anything at all.

Now we have to replace Megan's camera. I'm thinking this is an opportunity to convince her she needs both a tiny purse-size digital and a D50 that will work with all my lenses. So far so good.
