02/03/06: Doug & Megan Get Burgled

Fish with his new friend Officer Creamer. They hit it off right away, and Fish grew more affectionate the longer they were together.

Officer Creamer was cool enough to let me snap some pictures while he worked, and he told some interesting stories of the area where we live. I also asked questions about his career, and he talked freely about the experiences that convinced him to try police work after 23 years in the Army.

A few of the more interesting comments I recall:

• "This area's a lot better than it used to be. Ten years ago, you wouldn't have lived here."
• "I'm pretty conversative, and I believe people should pay a price for doing something wrong."
• "We used to have three-man calls in the apartment buildings near here. Two to handle the call, and one to guard the car."
• "Burglars around here, it's usually a teenager, after school and in broad daylight. They knock on the door, if somebody answers it's the wrong house, if nobody answers they look for a way in."
• "There are three things they hate: light and dogs and noise."
