These birds live at a souvenir shop between the fishing village of Chron Kneish and the central part of Tonle Sap, the "great lake" of Cambodia. They're free to fly away, but apparently they stay nearby because of the free food.

While I was taking these pictures, one of the birds flew up onto the roof of the souvenir shop. The young man who had been feeding them scampered up the side of the building and ran along the sharp corrugated metal peak, chasing the bird back to its roost below on the dock.
